The readers are graded into 10 levels with reference to the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) Proficiency Guidelines for Reading. The system factors in vocabulary, grammar, text length and content complexity. Graded readers facilitate children’s language development and teachers’ and parents’ selection of reading materials.
Each book contains a glossary of words used in the reader and comes with hanyu pinyin annotations to ease pronunciation. English translation of the story is also available for easy comprehension of the passages.
